Acanthus is made up of two women with degrees in fine art and a strong belief in conscious living. With Acanthus, we've brought together many of our common interests into one business.

We do stencils, murals and faux-finishing on almost every surface imaginable and the environmental impact of our work is always taken into consideration.
Cara De Angelis:
Recently received her B.F.A from the Hartford Art School, where she studied as a Painting major and Illustration/ Art History double minor. She graduated summa cum laude and was awarded the Rudolph Zallinger Painting Prize. She is currently  attending the New York Academy of Art for her M.F.A.
For over a decade she has been involved in Animal Rights and Environmentalist movements and she incorporates those beliefs into her art when possible.
In addition to painting she is skilled in Drawing, Sculpting, mehndi and gluten-free/sugar-free baking. You can see Cara's personal art at:

Colleen Flannery:
Has been a professional mural artist for 13 years. She has painted interior and exterior murals in Florida, Michigan and Connecticut. Recently, her mural "The Balance" was printed in the Norwalk Artwalk Map. "The Balance" is one of two environmental murals Colleen has in South Norwalk, CT. The other is "Our Star" in Norwalk Heritage Park.
Colleen has been a part of the Fairfield County art scene for the past 8 years. In addition to painting murals she also works in the fields of Illustration, Sculpting, Photography, Portraiture and Mehndi.
Recently Colleen was recognized for her mehndi painting by Moffly Publications "Best of the Gold Coast 2008" magazine.
She attended Kendall College of Art +Design in Grand Rapids, MI for Illustration/Fine Art. She is also completing her studies at the Center for Anthroposophy's teacher training program.
